I’ve done some internal performance profiling for this release, and fine-tuned QLab to make it perform more efficiently. For example, on my PowerBook G4 (1.25 Ghz, 1 Gig RAM), playing 10 stereo wave files concurrently used to produce a load of about 69%-75% CPU usage on my machine. This now has been reduced to a load of about 32%-38%. The improvement is greater for longer sounds. (I get loads of around 12% when the 10 sounds are over 60 seconds long.) In my sample workspaces that use a variety of sounds, waits and fades, I’m seeing improvements of (for example) 28% load in the old version to 6% load in the new one.
