Sightings: Mackey’s Lounge / BlahBlahBlah:BANG! / Our Town

A triple dose of in-the-wild news!

Phil Packer writes to report:

Here’s a little “Rat-Pack” thing we do called “Mackey’s Lounge” for “Right Now Productions” in Walton-On-Thames near London.

The two QLabs are a main and a standby, they are linked together by the box you can see in the front centre, which is basically two USB keyboard electronics in a die-cast box with dual-pole push switches making the appropriate keypresses (space, esc, cursor up and cursor down) allowing me to keep both the QLabs approximately in sync.

BlahBlahBlahBANG

Matt Starritt follows that with:

Here’s a really bad cell phone pic of QLab in action for the Washington Ensemble Theatre’s recent production of BlahBlahBlah:BANG! at On The Boards in Seattle. The show was a risky adaptation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler and the first production the company has done outside its space. The sound was run with QLab on a 1.3 Ghz G4 powerbook with a MOTU Ultralite interface. Because of QLab I was able to easily push the sound design in directions previously impossible.

BlahBlahBlahBANG

And we’ll round it out with Jonathan Lewis’ kind note:

I’m currently sound designing/composing for a production of Our Town at Theatre Calgary, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The show will eventually be run on an LCS Meyer rig. However, before we get into the theatre, the actors really need to rehearse with their pre-recorded foley in the rehearsal hall. No LCS for the rehearsal hall, so QLab to the rescue!

Bravo! Very solid, versatile, and elegant piece of software. I wish I were making the big bucks and could afford to send you money. Instead, all I can afford is to heap the praise (and my gratitude) upon you.

Thanks for keeping us up to date about how you use QLab!
