FLAC Playback support

Reported by: Paul Gotch Assigned to: chris
Priority: medium Component: Sound Cue
Keywords: Cc:

Description

It would be great if FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) playback support was added to QLAB. Apple's ALAC is all very well but it is very tied in to MacOS and few tools exist to work with it on Windows. Sharing sound files with Windows (and Linux) users would be much easier if FLAC was supported. Obviously uncompressed WAV files can be used but these take much more space and don't have metadata tags built into them.

Actually this is not as required as I though it was since I've found a tool for MacOS X called "Max" which converts between pretty much any audio format under the sun preserving tags.

  • status changed from new to closed.
  • resolution set to wontfix.

Especially considering the ability to convert using e.g. the above tool, I'm planning on sticking with just those formats directly supported by CoreAudio?. Anything else would be a significant addition of complexity with minimal gain.
